Successful film and video work usually requires a few more pieces of the jigsaw than a photo shoot. If you are looking to hire a studio space in which to do some filming to promote your business or creative venture for the first time, make sure you shop around and get what’s right for you! There’s a lot on the market, and the higher end can seem intimidatingly expensive.

When you’re first starting out and perhaps still relatively inexperienced, there are plenty of affordable, flexible studio spaces for hire in community focused spaces and co-working buildings. Usually they’ll be available hourly, by the half-day or by the full day. Here are 8 reasons to give one of them a go:

  • You’ll have a specialised facility that should have a lot of the equipment you need and will act as a dedicated and controlled environment to accommodate the work you need to do. On top of that it should have good acoustics and be clean, spacious and welcoming.
  • Multi-purpose! A decent-sized blank canvas space should do the trick whether you’re creating promotional content, filming a talking head style interview, getting shots for a music video or carrying out a fashion shoot.
  • Whilst it might sometimes come with an extra cost, staff and maybe even experienced professionals should be on hand to assist you with any questions you may have. Before you start, ensure the right equipment for your shoot is going to be available. If it’s not, you might be able to hire in what you need for an additional charge.
  • Because you’ll have hired the studio for a set period of time, you’ll want to ‘make the most of your money’! This will add a sense of urgency to fully utilise the studio space that’s yours for the period of time, and foster productivity.
  • Even if it all doesn’t go quite to plan, you’ll have learned from the process! Hopefully you’re happy with the end product, but if not, many studio operators will offer a reduced fee for you to come back and finish the job on a quiet day.
